Cup Game Snowed Off - on Next Sunday
Today's Sussex County Cup tie with Ringmer was called off this morning as there is still two inches of snow covering the entire pitch, which underneath is as hard as Vinnie Jones's bonce. The game will now be played next Sunday 6th January at the Alderbrook kicking off at 1.30pm.

1sts Move On Up, 2nds Slip Up
Ellie celebrated her 100 goals for Crowborough with another two (and her fifth Player of the Match in a row) despite being sick all yesterday and feeling rough throughout the game. Ex-Crow Ali Turner played the whole game for Dover, and despite having supposedly retired she was their outstanding outfield player. As for the game, we pretty much dominated throughout, Ellie giving us the lead on 25 mins and Kirsty stealing in at the far post to make it 2-0 after their keeper Anita Chidwick had parried Rachael's shot. The second half was a bit more even, but after a scary ten minutes when we struggled to clear the ball Ellie made the result safe with another trademark goal. Cha had the final word as she was brought down by the keeper and slotted home the pen herself. Woody only had one save to make in the game, and Chidwick pulled off some superb saves during the game to keep the score respectable. The 2nds went down 1-2 at home to Lewes, a result which drags them into the relegation fight; on a happier note Gravesy scored her first goal for the club.

Bye Bye Sam
Sam Shearman completed her transfer to Whitehawk today - we all wish her the best of luck at her new club apart from when we whup her scrawny ass in the County Cup Final (maybe...)!

Chichester Hit for Six as 1sts Gain Revenge, 2nds Reach Another Semi Final

Squinty Athletic FC

What is it with Amy in these photographs? Looks like she's eating a lemon...

A weakened Chichester side were blown away as the firsts gained ample revenge for their 5-2 defeat back in October. On a dreadful surface which ruined the game as a passing spectacle and made life difficult for both sides, Ellie made the breakthrough in the 23rd minute after a scrappy first quarter. Another goal five minutes later, again from Ellie, allowed us to relax and control the game for long periods. It took until just before the hour to make things safe, a long range TC effort flying in at the far post, and as Chichester tired we spent much of the rest of the game camped in their half. Two more from Ellie and a tap-in from Rachel after their keeper let a cross creep under her body completed the rout. Ellie's third goal of the afternoon was her 100th for the Club. The 2nds beat Haywards Heath 5-3 to reach their fourth successive Reserve Cup semi final. Goals from Terri (2), Nat (2) and Becky James did the damage.

Firsts go Goal Crazy at Worcester Park

Chernobyl Athletic FC

Squad: Sunbed Boy, Ellie Goldenboots, Kirsty Kung Fu, Charmaine Ultra, Woody Woodpecker, Little Kim, Auntie Milla, Spikey Giraffe Neck, (front) Michelle Pitbull, Kezza, Rachael Fingerbreaker, Tina Arena, Tracey "6 Pints" Naden, Amy (possessed by an alien pod creature).

The firsts did their goal difference a world of good today as they defied the boggy conditions to play their best football of the season. An early goal from Rachael helped settle things, and two from Ellie before half time made things comfortable but we weren't getting it all our own way. In the second half we just went mad and hammered in six in a ten-minute spell with Ellie getting another three, Michelle, Kirsty and an own goal the others. After bringing on Kim for her first appearance for the firsts, Michelle got hurt but even with ten players we scored further goals through Charmaine and Kirsty to make the final score 11-0. The day was marred by an unfortunate injury to Worcester Park's sweeper Jo Brooks who suffered a cut under the eye as Kirsty went for an overhead kick and caught her in the face. The 2nds home game with Meadow Sports was called off on Saturday as the Jarvis Brook pitches were waterlogged.
