| All washed out... again! | |
| The incessant rain this week ensured that our Cup tie with Redhill is off again, even though we were willing to travel to get the game on - it looks like most of the South East is under water at the moment! The 2nds game at home to Meadow Sports was cancelled even before we knew the Alderbrook was unplayable - so much for our backup pitch! The cup game will now take place in 2 weeks' time, again with a 1.30pm kick off. | |

| Both games beaten by the weather | |
| Both 1st & 2nd teams games were called off at Hastings and Worthing due to waterlogged pitches. Next week we're both at home, the 1sts playing Redhill in the League Cup (ko 1.30pm at Alderbrook) and the 2nds have a rearranged League game at home to Meadow Sports (2pm k.o. at Palesgate Lane). | |

| 2nds Beat Worthing in the Fog | |
| The 2nds got back to winning ways with a battling 4-2 win over a useful Worthing side in a game that could have been abandoned at any time due to the swirling fog. Sarah gave us the lead after a good move but we then relaxed for the remainder of the first half and Worthing looked much the better side. Things didn't change too much after the break and they got a deserved equaliser after 55 minutes. We then took the lead again rather against the run of play with probably the best move of the match, a right wing break crossed in for Kim to hammer in her first goal for the club. Worthing came straight back at us and equalised again, a poorly contested goal kick coming straight back at us and their striker getting in behind the defence. However, we kept battling and again took the lead through Nat, and as they tired and heads dropped Sarah weighed in with her second to finish them off. All in all a decent performance considering most of the players hadn't played or trained for about a month! | |

Squad vs Ringmer - Rachael, Milla, Kerry, TC, Woody, Andi, Tracey Naden, (front) Kirsty, Michelle, Cha, Tina, Kim. |
|
The 2nds league fixture with Valley Valiants fell victim to the recent icy weather when Jarvis Brook called off all games for the weekend, as the frost is still too deep in the ground for the pitches to be playable tomorrow. The firsts eventually played their home County Cup tie with Ringmer away as the Alderbrook pitch was still looking ropey after the weather. Looking ring rusty after the long Christmas lay-off, we went 2-0 down in the first half and it looked gloomy as Ellie was subbed at half time as she was feeling sick. However, we pulled it back as Ringmer's keeper fumbled a corner into her own net five minutes into the second half, and with 15 minutes left Charmaine got a touch on a Michelle free kick to take it into extra time. Both sides had plenty of chances during the game to win it, with Woody making two outstanding saves to deny Ringmer's strikers one-on-one and them fluffing several good opportunities, and the ball bouncing on Ringmer's line on no less than four separate occasions without a Crowborough player to toe it over the line and their keeper making a superb save from a Tracey Chapman rocket. With no further scoring in extra time, it went to penalties with Tina, Michelle, Woody and Milla scoring for us, and with two Ringmer players missing the target we scraped though to a Semi Final against Premier League Brighton & Hove Albion. Bring 'em on! |
