Firsts called off at last minute, 2nds stuffed at Brighton
The firsts gained their three points in the easiest way possible as Gravesend phoned at 10:15 this morning to say they couldn't raise a side. The 2nds travelled to League leaders Brighton and lost 8-1; by all accounts a pretty deadful performance compounded when Sarah Leggett was concussed after only a minute or so in goal. Sarah Crockford got our consolation goal.

It's Redhill at Home
The draw for the Second Round of the League Cup was made tonight and we have a home draw against the Premier Division's current form team Redhill. Since stuffing us 6-1 in September they're unbeaten in all competitions and are thus unable to play us on the 9th December as they have an FA Cup tie on that date. Most likely date for the Cup game is therefore early in the New Year. The 2nds have an away game at Haywards Heath 2nds in the Reserves Cup, a side they recently beat 8-2 in the Sussex Trophy.

Goal Bonanza as both 1sts and 2nds Win
After suffering the indignity of going behind against Division 3 opponents after only two minutes, the firsts ran riot in their League Cup 1st Round tie, eventually winning 17-2, our highest score for seven years. Scorers were Ellie(6), Michelle(4), Charmaine(2), Sam, Rachael, TC (another header!), Andi and a first ever Crowborough goal for Woody who came out of goal for the last 20 minutes. The 2nds got ample revenge for their defeat at Southdown in September and won 4-0, the goals coming from Nat and a hat-trick from Terri.

30 Seconds Away...
We were 30 seconds from Cup glory against an excellent Redbridge Raiders side today, leading 3-2 and in the fifth minute of injury time when we went to sleep at the back and they poked home an equaliser at the death. Fired up by their goal, they dominated the first period of extra time and regained they lead from the penalty spot after Gravesy had pulled down one of their strikers and made it safe in the second period when their trick striker Michelle Davis caught us pushing up and beat Woody one-on-one. The game was a cracking advert for football at this standard as they took the lead on 14 minutes after a pretty poor opening half hour on our part, and Charmaine equalising with a header from Michelle's free kick 12 minutes later. We then dominated the rest of regular time, but they took the lead against the run of play a few minutes into the second half, but goals from Milla and Ellie put us ahead for the last 25 minutes. The 2nds lost 4-2 to Redhill Reserves, officially their home game, but played at Jarvis Brook as they couldn't get a pitch. Nat and Sarah Crockford found the net for us for the second week running.

Sunday 4th November
Cup glory and goals galore for 1sts and 2nds

A great day for both sides today! The firsts progress to the FA Cup 2nd Round for only the third time in their history after seeing off a spirited Brentford team. After a nervous start, a 30-yard screamer from Andi gave us the lead followed by a second goal a minute later from Ellie, slotted in from an impossible angle. Ellie added a third just into the second half after their keeper fumbled, and Michelle added her first of the season to make it 4-0 a couple of minutes later. We then took our collective feet right off the gas and let them have the ball for the next half hour, and they deservedly pulled a goal back four minutes from time. Ellie then got her hat-trick at the death, but there was still some injury time in which they scrambled a second from a corner. We now face Redbridge Raiders at the Alderbrook next Sunday, 1pm kick off.

The 2nds hammered eight goals past Haywards Heath 2nds, Sarah Crockford hitting five and Nat a hat-track. I think we may have found our striking partnership... We now play Southdown in the Semi-Final which will be played midweek sometime soonish.
